Run Jump Play is a series of inspirational stories about kids with autism overcoming barriers and thriving through sports.
For people with autism, fitness and physical activity can be difficult. Oversensitivity to sights, sounds, and tactile stimuli can be a barrier, as can limits or delays in motor coordination and planning. Team sports can be especially challenging for kids with autism, who have trouble with communication and social interaction.
Further, discrimination against children with autism is ingrained in our culture as common myths that keep kids with autism on the sidelines, continue to prevail. Run Jump Play is an important series to dispel these myths, and provide tools for children, parents and coaches to understand and communicate with autistic children.
