Development funding is available to secure the project team, subject matter experts and financial sources; to undertake research on the subject matter and target audience; to advance the creative materials; to prepare pitch materials and create a trailer or pilot episode;
to develop marketing and impact strategies and prepare implementation plans.

How to Apply - September 20, 2024

Use the checklist below to confirm your company and project are eligible. Review the 2024 Program Guidelines – Updated.

Between August 23 and 30th, email your Expert Organization and Platform Support Forms to info@telusfund.ca to confirm eligibility. If you miss these dates, you can still apply on September 20th.

Submit an application

TELUS Fund will begin receiving applications on September 1, 2024 until the deadline on September 20, 2024 at 17:00PT.

The Evaluation Tool

The Evaluation Tool is a fast and easy way to find out if your project is likely to receive development financing. It takes only a few minutes to complete.

The questions in this tool are based on the 4 evaluation criteria used by the Board of Directors to render funding decisions.

Minimum
Requirements

The Eligible Applicant:

  • checkmark_1 is experienced in the business of producing professional audiovisual content (e.g., TV programs, feature-length films, and web series)
  • checkmark_1 is a for-profit taxable corporation (within the meaning of Canada's Income Tax Act), headquartered in Canada, and Canadian-controlled (Sections 26 to 28 of the Investment Canada Act)
  • checkmark_1 is the owner and controller of all rights necessary to create, produce, distribute, and exploit the project throughout the world in all manner, languages, and media, and on all platforms and devices for a period of at least 2 years (24 months)
  • checkmark_1 has obtained support for the project from an eligible Expert Organization
  • checkmark_1 has secured interest in the project from an eligible Platform

The Eligible Project:

  • checkmark_1 includes audiovisual content intended for viewing from beginning to end (e.g., TV programs, feature-length films, and web series) which is dealing with a well-being issue that appears prominently in the central storyline or in sub-plots
  • checkmark_1 includes ample Complementary content to help develop the audience and deepen their experience (e.g., short digital videos, learning resources)
  • checkmark_1 may include sophisticated digital content (e.g., games, virtual reality experiences, mobile applications) that is interrelated to the audiovisual content
  • checkmark_1 will earn a minimum of 6 out of 10 points on the Canadian Audiovisual Certification Office scale, with appropriate exceptions for international ventures
  • checkmark_1 will spend at least 75% of the budget in Canada
  • checkmark_1 does not fall within the CRTC Program Categories of News, Reporting and Actualities, or Sports
