Spousal, physical and sexual violence have regularly made the headlines in recent years. But behind these acts, there is always a context of psychological violence between the abuser and the victim. This violence, which is increasingly recognized as being as damaging, if not more so, than physical violence, is nevertheless largely misunderstood.
